Shade Blasts Board of Elections for Changing Election Night Process

The Maryland Board of Elections has announced it will not allow county election boards to release precinct by precinct results in next year’s primary or general elections on election night.  Instead election night numbers will be made available in clusters of several precincts at a time, with no indication as to how specific districts voted. Those detailed breakdowns won’t be made available until the following week. While most voters may not care about the individual precinct numbers- it is important information to know on election night for candidates as well as news organizations providing election night coverage.  Noting that Allegany County pays half of the cost of the voting machines, County Commissioners President Jake Shade blasted the state board for changing the process….
