Shapiro Stepping Up For Childcare Workers

Investments in childcare workers are part of the Pennsylvania budget passed last week. Pennsylvania's childcare industry has 3,000 unfilled jobs – openings that, if filled, would allow providers to serve 25,000 additional children.  Governor Josh Shapiro said that previously, tax credits were enacted that helped with costs, but now expanded access is needed… 

   

“For the first time ever, we have a childcare line in the budget – $25 million dollars specifically earmarked for recruitment and retention bonuses for childcare workers at licensed childcare facilities across Pennsylvania.”
