Skate Park Proving Popular

January 6th, 2026 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Skatepark was dedicated in early November in South Cumberland and participation is strong.  Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss told WCBC News that outdoor enthusiasts of all ages have visited the park at the Mason Complex. “It’s been great.  It’s really getting used.  It’s getting used a lot.  Any time there’s decent weather they’re out there using it.  So far it’s been absolutely fantastic the way the community has responded in using the park.”

Mayor Morriss also added that the area of North Mechanic Street near the Union Rescue Mission will soon be housing another community minded organization. “I know that Archway Station has gotten some properties down there.  They’re leasing some property down there and they’re going to set that up as one of their offices to do the work they do for the community on Mechanic Street.”
