Maryland lost 18,509 residents to other states between July 2023 and July 2024, ranking the state 45th nationally in domestic migration, and it’s not solely due to housing affordability.  The Maryland Chamber of Commerce lists high taxes and rising living expenses are also pushing residents to states with lower costs, better growth prospects, and more business friendly climates.
