The Memorial Day Parade takes place this Monday, May 26, in Downtown Cumberland for the first time in 50 years.  Seventeen businesses will be open for the duration of the event, including nine that were going to close for the holiday until they heard about the parade.  Ed Mullaney from the Let’s Beautify Cumberland! Committee says they have asked for the storefronts to be decorated…

  

“We’ve asked merchants to decorate, businesses to be open, storefronts to be decorated with patriotic, you know, flags, banners, bunting—whatever.  I think we’re going to have a good ole fashioned parade, with a variety of groups.”
