Residents throughout the area will now hear the familiar steam engine whistle of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad again. The historic train is back on the tracks after a year’s absence for repairs. Wes Heinz, Scenic Railroad director, said the engine made her first trip of the season with a full train and is ready for the season’s schedule of trips…

 

“Friday night, we debuted our 2025 schedule of Sunset on the Mountain. Interesting fact – we call it Sunset on the Mountain until about September 1st then we flip it and call it Moonlight on the Mountain because up until about that point as you go up towards Frostburg the sun is setting over the ridges, it’s really beautiful. And then as it gets into the fall, the moon rises.”
