New Allegany County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano spent the first day of school with students at Westernport Elementary, returning to a school they escaped from in May’s flood. Martirano says he has priorities for getting the school year started right…
“Priority one – getting our students safe to school. Priority two – setting good habits and then making sure that all their needs are taken care of and then three – making certain that we’re supporting our teachers and staff so they can educate our students this year. We’re going to have a great year.”
The Superintendent tells WCBC leaders in the school system met and did a thorough overview before the start of the year…
“Every supervisor, every director reported up the chain to me. We went through each process from transportation to food service to our instruction, to our curriculum, to our safety and just did a total review and I’m very confident to say to our community we are ready to go.”
