On Thursday, May 29, 2025 at approximately 7:01 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue for a shoplifting complaint.  Police contacted the staff who reported that Abree Braithwaite stole items and left the store.  Police learned that Braithwaite had an active bench warrant as well.  The warrant was issued as the result of Braithwaite violating probation on an original charge of Att-Burglary-4th Degree-Dwelling.  Officers later located Braithwaite on E. Fourth Street and placed her under arrest.  Braithwaite was issued a criminal citation for theft and transported to Central Booking where she is currently being held awaiting a bond hearing.
