Moms Demand Action, a movement powered by 10 million moms, teachers, survivors, and students, issued Congressman David Trone a Gun Sense Candidate Distinction for his U.S. Senate bid. The distinction was earned over David’s three terms in Congress, where he helped pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022 – a piece of landmark legislation that has been widely hailed as the most significant gun reform in a generation.
In Congress, David also supported the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, advocating for a nationwide assault weapons ban. In the Senate, he will fight to pass background check requirements, enact red flag laws to close the boyfriend loophole, and keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers.

“Throughout my three terms in Congress, I’ve earned an F rating from the NRA. I wear that proudly. While I’ve been working with Moms Demand Action to pass common-sense gun laws, the NRA has been buying influence and elections to make sure nothing gets done on guns.
“There are over 430 million guns in America and 40,000 gun deaths per year– the loss of life must stop. In the Senate, I’ll continue to work with Moms Demand Action to pass more life-saving legislation, from banning assault weapons to investing in gun safety technologies that reduce suicides and fighting to ban PAC and lobbyist money from our campaigns and end the NRA’s corrupt influence.”
