Two-way Traffic on Cecelia Street

May 10th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

The City of Cumberland would like to notify the public that Cecelia Street will be converted to two-way traffic in the coming weeks. This traffic change was approved by the Mayor and City Council on August 4, 2021, under Council Order 26,849. The Cumberland Street Department will be performing temporary improvements to install pavement markings and necessary signage to facilitate two-way traffic. Street parking will continue to be available along the southern curbline. This change will require the public to park in the opposite direction than they have historically parked.

These improvements are expected to occur between Monday, 5/12/2025, and Friday, 5/23/2025, as weather permits. Cecelia Street will be closed to through traffic but local traffic will be permitted in the work zone.

The permanent improvements are expected to occur in the Summer of 2025.

Additional information will be released in the event the closure duration needs to be extended or reduced. This closure has been coordinated with the City of Cumberland's Police and Fire Departments.

Thank you for your cooperation during this time. Please use caution in the area and follow all traffic control devices that will be in place. If there are any questions, please contact the City of Cumberland Engineering Department, 301-759-6600.
