A rally by the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network called for a return to full funding for programs investigating cancer treatments. Held on the Mall in Washington, D.C., the rally featured remarks from Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen who lost his mother to cancer 18 years ago. The Senator said that investments in research help to prolong lives and is something that cuts across party lines…

    

“Cancer is not something that should be red or blue or Republican or Democrat. And I am pleased that both in the Senate Appropriations Committee and in the House Appropriations Committee, we have increased funding above this year’s level.”
