Leases for five wind farms off the east coast have been paused by the Trump Administration, but the one off the coast of Ocean City is not included. Leases for projects off the coasts of Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Virginia and New York have been paused because the turbine towers and blades create radar interference, which could be a national security concern. “We do know the history of President Trump, and how he feels about these wind turbines. He says, you know, listen, I think that they're ugly. Offshore wind is not something where I want to invest US assets and US resources.”
