West Virginia Announces America 250 Events

Kathy Cornwell

For America’s 250th birthday, events will take place statewide in West Virginia. From July 2nd through the 5th, the grounds of the Charleston Capitol will host family events including a nightly lightshow projected on the capitol dome. Governor Patrick Morrisey says the centerpiece of the weekend will be the America250 Wheel – a Ferris wheel standing over 200 feet tall, offering a bird’s eye view of Charleston…

“About 1,600 people can go through each hour. That’s about what we’re seeing, and it’s all going to be free of charge because we want to make sure that everyone regardless of income has a chance to participate in America’s 250.”
