The Mountain Amateur Radio Club invites the public to be a part of a national emergency communications exercise at the Lions Pavilion in LaVale. Amateur Radio Field Day is a 24-hour event sponsored by the Amateur Radio Relay League where radio operators from across North America establish temporary radio stations and give the public an opportunity to not just get on the air but to get involved and be prepared. Chris Clites, president of Mountain Amateur Radio Club spoke with WCBC News about today’s event that begins at 2 PM.

“Come look at what we do. Come look at what we support and ultimately like I said get on the radio and try it out. Anybody is allowed to get on and transmit on a radio with a club member next to them.”

The Lion’s pavilion is located at 599 Georges Creek Blvd. in LaVale. The event is open to the public and begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 27th and we’ll run for 24 hours. For more information, visit facebook.com/wmdhamradio
