Harris: Amendment Discriminates

The citizen most interested in the constitutional amendment over redistricting is probably Congressman Andy Harris of the Eastern Shore. As the lone Republican representative in D.C., Harris would most likely lose that seat with new district maps. He told WBAL that different maps for state and congressional seats is not fair…

“The fact that they’re creating a double standard for redistricting is just plain ridiculous and they are disenfranchising my Republican voters by saying we’re going to draw a map based on your political speech, how you register and how you vote. We’re going to discriminate against you because of that.”

Harris thinks the entire situation revolves around Governor Moore’s aspirations…

“Look, I get it. Wes Moore wants to be president. He wants to make sure that Gavin Newsom doesn’t one-up him, but this is the wrong way to do it.”
