Narcotics Arrests in Cumberland

Members of the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force, Cumberland Police Department, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, and Maryland State Police Strategic Operations Group, arrested Luther Jessup, Baltimore, Jasmond Metheny, Cumberland, and Taylar Lapinski, Cumberland in the 200 block of Springdale Street, Cumberland, MD.

The arrest was part of a three-month investigation into the distribution and sales of crack cocaine and fentanyl in the Allegany County area. A search warrant was executed in the 200 block of Springdale Street, Cumberland, MD. As a result of the investigation a large amount of crack cocaine and a large amount of fentanyl was seized from the residence. Furthermore, U.S. currency and numerous firearms were also seized. The approximate street value of the drugs located was $700,000.

As a result, Luther Jessup, 35, of Baltimore was indicted by an Allegany County Grand Jury with the following:

· CDS: Possession-Not Cannabis (2 counts)

· CDS: Possession with to Distribute: Narcotic (2 Counts)

· CDS Possession – Large Amount-Not Cannabis (2 Counts)

· Firearm/Drug Trafficking Crime (4 Counts)

· Regulated Firearm: Illegal Possession (4 Counts)

· Illegal Possession of Ammo

Jasmond Metheny, 36, of Cumberland was indicted by an Allegany County Grand Jury with the following:

· CDS: Possession-Not Cannabis (2 Counts)

· CDS: Possession with to Distribute: Narcotic (2 Counts)

· CDS Distribution-Narcotic (2 Counts)

Taylar Lapinski, 34, of Cumberland was indicted by an Allegany County Grand Jury with the following:

· CDS: Possession-Not Cannabis

· CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute: Narcotic

· CDS Distribution-Narcotic

Chief James R. Pyles says:

“Let me be very clear to those selling drugs in the City of Cumberland: we are coming for you. The Cumberland Police Department now has more personnel assigned to the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force than at any other time in the history of this Department. We are putting the manpower and resources behind our commitment to take drug dealers off our streets. If you are selling drugs in Cumberland, we are coming to find you. We will investigate you, we will arrest you, and we will hold you accountable. There is nowhere to hide. I commend the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force and every officer and agency involved in this investigation. Their work is making a real difference in our community. One life. One day.
