VA Announces Insurance Premium Holiday

The Department of Veterans Affairs is implementing the first-ever premium holiday for the Veterans’ Group Life Insurance program. Enrollees in the program will not have to pay insurance premiums for three consecutive months, beginning in November. The VGLI lets veterans pay a monthly premium to maintain life insurance coverage after leaving the military. The self-funded program has been incredibly strong, leading to the premium holiday that will save veterans an average of $330 over the three months and over $150 million in total.
