Powell Questions Bridge Repair Progress

Election Day is just five weeks away and in the City of Cumberland incumbent Mayor Ray Morriss is facing challenger Darrell Lee Powell.  Powell told WCBC News that the damaged bridges in West Side should have been repaired by now…

“Eight years, nine years, is absolutely too long for the bridges to be setting there. As an outsider looking in, I would think that, you know, that CSX has insurance they could use to pay for the bridges, especially the two that they damaged.”

Powell added that he is unsure why Mayor Morriss has been unable to bring a resolution to the issue…

“If the mayor was an insider, as he said he was and he promised that he was going to have that taken care of – was he an insider for CSX or is he an insider for the city and people of Cumberland? I mean, I don’t know.”
