A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory panel is recommending the agency add the COVID-19 vaccine to the routine vaccination schedule for children. It isn't a done deal yet as the director of the CDC still has to sign off on it and there are still details that need to be worked out. A spokesman said that it's not going to be a mandate or requirement but it will be similar to what the recommendation is for influenza The possibility of a COVID vaccine mandate for public school children was asked of the candidates running for a seat on the Allegany County Board of Education. Incumbent David Bohn said he would oppose such a mandate, but he believes that ultimately those decisions could be forced upon the local system by the state…
Candidate Janet Heavner said she would have no problem if the COVID vaccine becomes a mandate for students…
Candidate Linda Widmyer said she strongly opposed the idea; while candidate Meggin Miller said while she is an advocate of getting the COVID vaccination, noting that her entire family has been vaxed and boostered, she would hesitate to support a mandate.
