A celebration of life will be held at a later date for longtime Allegany County Judge of Orphans Court Billie Gilpin who passed away Sunday at the age of 82. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Gilpin. A Fort Hill High School graduate, class of 1958, Gilpin was an Allegany County Day Care Provider for 44 years. During that time, she served with the Allegany and Garrett Counties Planning Council. She was later elected to the Allegany County Orphans Court in 1994 and held that post until she retired from that position in August of 2017.
