A major multi-agency search effort was conducted over the weekend in Frostburg

Frostburg City Police Department handled the initial response of an elderly missing woman. Janet Asbury, an 82 year old female with dementia, visiting family in Frostburg was reported missing just after 7AM Sunday fron High Street. WCBC news asked Frostburg City Police Chief, Nicholas Costello about the initial investigation and a search of the community began with the assistance of Mountain Rescue K-9.

A request for public assistance was made at 9:20AM on social media. Allegany County Emergency Services initiated a massive search operation. Numerous Law Enforcement agencies, Fire crews and Emergency Medical Service personnel along with K-9 search teams and a specialized Wilderness search team responded along with community volunteers. Maryland State Police Trooper 5 provided support until weather grounded the aircraft. A Drone search team was called in and assisted search efforts until weather grounded its operations. Search efforts expanded from the city of Frostburg to the Great Allegany Passage trail from LaVale to the Pennsylvania state line. After 5 hours a door-to-door search located the confused elderly woman at a residence on Frost Street in Frostburg at 1:42PM. Frostburg City Police Chief,  Nicholas Costello….
