Acrobatics & Tumbling Completes Undefeated Conference Season in Win Over Pioneers

The Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling team pulled out another MEC victory, defeating Glenville State by a score of 258.670-257.415 on Wednesday evening in their final regular season meet of the year.

FSU started the meet off strong, earning three scores of 9.50, 9.85, and 9.80 in the opening compulsory event. GSU earned impressive scores themselves of 9.75 and 9.80 to make the score 37.75-37.40 in favor of the Bobcats going into the second event.

Both teams put up scores of 9.15 in higher in the acro event, with FSU earning the highest score of 9.75 in the third heat, helping to secure another event win 28.65-27.75. In the pyramid, the Bobcats earned nearly perfect scores of 9.70 in the inversion heat and 9.90 in the open heat, but he Pioneers nearly racked up perfect scores as well, finishing with a 9.70, 9.45, and 9.80 to give them the event 28.95-26.00. With the large pyramid event win, GSU held a 94.10-92.40 advantage at the half.

FSU came out with three terrific scores of 9.25, 9.15, and 9.80 in the toss event, compared to only a high score of 9.40 from Glenville, with Frostburg winning 28.20-27.05. The Bobcats took full advantage in the tumbling event, showing their skills and earning high scores of 9.20, 9.30, 9.725, and 9.525, again being strong in the individual passes. That compared to the Pioneers' high score of 9.225, as FSU took the meet lead back with a 54.35-49.925 event score.

GSU edged Frostburg in the team event 86.34-83.72, but that wasn't enough to overcome the deficit, as the Bobcats were able to come out with the narrow 258.670-257.415 victory.

With the win, Frostburg finishes 8-2 in the regular season, with a perfect 5-0 record in the conference, while Glenville finishes 5-3, 2-3 in the conference. Both teams will face each other in a quick turnaround, as the Bobcats are set to host the Pioneers in the No. 1 v No. 4 matchup in the MEC Championships on Friday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. More information and updates will be posted at frostburgsports.com.
