Allegany County Tourism Launches the Second Annual “Shop Small, Win Big” Contest

November 17th, 2021 by WCBC Radio

Allegany County Tourism, in partnership with the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority, Cumberland Downtown Development Commission, Downtown Cumberland Business Association,  and FrostburgFirst, will be giving away $1,000 in cash prizes during the 2nd Annual “Shop Small, Win Big” contest, valid November 26 through December 19, 2021. The collective goal is to encourage shopping locally during the holiday season. Shoppers who purchase online or in-person from small businesses in Allegany County during the contest period can submit their shopping receipts as entries that will qualify them to win weekly drawings for $50 Visa gift cards as well as the grand prize drawing for a $550 Visa gift card.

“Last year’s contest was such a great success, so we wanted to carry on the momentum through this year’s holiday season,” says Jessica Palumbo, Marketing and Sales Manager for Allegany County Tourism. “Now more than ever, it is important to support the small businesses that make up the fabric of our community, and this is our way of driving awareness and supporting our community.”

To enter the contest, participants must submit a separate entry form for each qualifying purchase; there is no minimum purchase required, and there is no limit on the number of entries a person can submit. Drawings for the $50 Visa gift cards will take place on November 29, December 6, and December 13, and the grand prize drawing for the $550 Visa gift card will take place on Monday, December 20, 2021. The hope is that winners of the gift cards will reinvest those dollars back into the community throughout the holiday season.

While shoppers can purchase from any qualifying business in Allegany County, as defined in the Official Contest Rules and Regulations, to be eligible for entry to the contest, businesses that have signed up to be a “participating business” have pledged to make employee, community, and visitor safety a priority during the holiday season.
