Baltimore man, NY woman arrested on Armed Robbery Charges in Cumberland

On Sunday at 9:10 PM the Cumberland Police responded to a Pennsylvania Avenue residence for a reported robbery. Upon arrival Officers learned that two suspects known to the victims had displayed a handgun and demanded the victims turn over cash and valuables to them. At one point the suspects struck two of the victims with the handgun. The suspects then fled in a vehicle in an unknown direction.

 

            The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) was contacted and responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Investigators interviewed the victims and obtained video surveillance from the surrounding area in an effort to learn more about the suspects and positively identify them.

 

            On Monday evening, 02/21/2022, Investigators learned that the suspects were returning to the area. With the assistance of the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force surveillance was maintained in the area until a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle was observed. Cumberland Police conducted a traffic stop and positively identified the three occupants of the vehicle.

 

            As a result, enough information and evidence was obtained that led to the arrest of two of the occupants for the robbery. Investigators charged 26 year old Rickey J. Williams II, of Baltimore, and 25 year old Raquil R. Williams, of Bronx, New York, with Armed Robbery, Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Both are currently being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center pending their next court appearance.

 

            The investigation is continuing. Additional charges are pending.
