The project carried an original estimated price tag of $3.5 to $5 million- but city officials are now acknowledging that $12.5 million is in the budget for the renovation of the downtown pedestrian mall . The price isn’t the only moving target with the planned groundbreaking also having been shifted on numerous occasions. During the most recent discussions a late 2022 or spring 2023 construction startup date was identified as the goal.
