The Baltimore Sun newspaper has returned to Maryland ownership. David Smith, the Executive Chairman of Sinclair Broadcasting, personally purchased the Baltimore Sun Media Group that includes The Sun, Capital and Maryland Gazette newspapers in Annapolis, as well as the Carroll County, Howard County, and Towson Times. The newspapers will be run separately from Sinclair properties. The Baltimore Sun was established in 1837.
