Barnes Drops Out of Congressional Race

January 5th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

One Republican has dropped out of the race to represent Maryland’s 6th Congressional District. Heath Barnes, the current Burgess (or Mayor) of Woodsboro suspended his campaign earlier this week. Instead, Barnes is endorsing Brenda Thiam, a former state delegate from Hagerstown, for the seat currently held by Representative David Trone, who is running for U.S. Senate instead of reelection.  The race for Trone’s seat now includes five Republicans and ten Democrats.  Republican Neil Parrot has not yet made a decision to run for the office.
