A couple in Bedford have submitted no-contest pleas in a case that saw over 100 animals rescued from a hoarding situation last March. Nyal and Renee Piper avoided a jury trial by entering the plea to over 50 various counts of animal cruelty. Most of the animals were taken by local rescues for care and placement, but several animals had to be euthanized. Sentencing in the case is scheduled for the end of September.
