Bishop Walsh won its third straight game and a tournament title Saturday night with a 74-62 win over LIGHT Homeschool of Kentucky The game was tied at 38 at halftime before the Spartans broke it open in the second half. Rodion Horbasenko led the Spartans with 35 points and David DiNola added 27.
The tournament is run by the National Christian School Athletic Association and the majority of the games were held at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Sixty boys teams and sixty girls teams were entered with various brackets formed based upon season records.
After a slow start, first year Coach Ryan Mattingly's squad finished with four consecutive wins and also had a three game winning streak in mid February.
