Buglary Headlines busy 24 Hours for Police

On Wednesday at approximately 1:00 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 300 block of Frederick Street for a male suspect attempting to gain entry to a residence.  Upon arrival, police contacted the suspect, Aaron Clevenger, who was not cooperative.  Clevenger then attempted to gain entry to another residence in the officer’s presence.  Officers stopped Clevenger and detained him for questioning. After further investigation, Clevenger was placed under arrest and transported to the police station. He was transported to Central Booking and is awaiting his initial appearance. 

 

ARRESTED:  Aaron Leonard Clevenger    AGE:  47       Cumberland, MD

CHARGES:  Burglary-4th Degree, Disturbing the Peace-Loud Noise (x2)

Police served a criminal summons on Timothy Hewlin Sr.  The summons was issued in connection with a fraud investigation that began on July 28, 2022.  On this date, it was reported that Timothy Hewlin stole banking information and fraudulently withdrew money from the victim’s bank account. After further investigation, police filed for charges against Hewlin at the District Court of Allegany County.  He was released pending trial after being served.

At approximately 3:22 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department located Daniel Gibson III inside the Frederick Street parking garage.  Gibson had been told previously by officers that he was not allowed on the property.  The garage is also posted with “No Trespassing” signs.  Gibson was issued a criminal citation and released.

Police  served a criminal summons on Calvin Kiniseley.  The summons was issued as a result of a private citizen filing for charges against Kniseley at the District Court of Allegany County.  Kniseley was released pending trial after being served.
