Burgmeier Hauling has decided to withdraw its application for the construction of a waste transfer center at the intersection of Bedford Road and Route 220. An overflow crowd at Bedford Road Fire Hall Wednesday evening met with Burgmeier representatives to present their opposition to the location of the center, saying it was poorly located – sitting in the midst of a residential area and backing directly on to Sunset Memorial Park. Thursday morning, Burgmeier Hauling rescinded their application with Allegany County for the zoning exception. One of the residents vocal in the opposition to the location, Richard Mihailovich, said that citizens from the immediate area and also surrounding areas came to voice their opposition.
