The Cumberland Police served an arrest warrant on Henry Ernest Simms III, age 52, of Cumberland, MD. The warrant charged Simms with Violation of Probation. His original charge was for Second Degree Assault. Simms was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance before the District Court Commissioner. He was held on a $2,500 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

The Cumberland Police served an arrest warrant on Paul Williams Umstead Jr, age 34, of Cumberland, MD. The warrant charged Umstead with Violation of Probation for an original charge of Second Degree Assault. He was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance before the District Court Commissioner and was held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.

Criminal Summons
The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Jon Christopher Vanetta Jr, age 33, of Cumberland MD. The summons charged Vanetta with Resisting Arrest and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, stemming from an incident that occurred in February, 2022. At the time, Vanetta was found unconscious in his vehicle. When officers and paramedics attempted to render aid, he became combative. He is currently awaiting trial in the matter.
The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Leo Richard Durocher Sr, age 61, of Cumberland MD. The summons charged Durocher with CDS Possession – Not Marijuana. The charges are a result of a traffic stop in November, 2021 when Durocher was found to be in possession of suspected heroin. He is currently awaiting trial in the matter.
The Cumberland Police served a Criminal Summons on Reginel Dechalus, age 36 of Cumberland, MD. The summons charged Dechalus with Malicious Destruction of Property form an incident that occurred in February, 2022, where he punched a window of a residence in the 200 block of Industrial Blvd. He is currently awaiting trial in the matter.
CDS Arrest
On March 11th, 2022, the Cumberland Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The officer developed reasonable suspicion that the occupants were in possession of CDS and a K9 was called to the scene. The K9 alerted to the presence of CDS in the vehicle which lead to a probable cause search of the vehicle and it’s occupants. Caitlin Nicole Crabtree, age 22, of Cumberland MD was found to be in possession of suspected Crack Cocaine and a smoking device. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Police Station where she was issued two Criminal Citations for Possession of CDS-Not Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia and released pending trial.

Burglary
The Cumberland Police responded to a business on the 900 block of Oldtown Rd for a burglary. An unidentified male broke through the front door of the business and stole several tobacco items. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Cumberland Police at (301) 777-1600.
