Busy Saturday for City Police

On Saturday the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Nicholas Moreland.  The warrant was issued in connection with a destruction of property investigation.  On October 28, 2022 at approximately 5:53 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business on Baltimore Street for a disturbance.  While officers searched for the subject creating the disturbance, it was learned that a window to one of the businesses in the area had been damaged.  After further investigation, a suspect was developed and identified as Nicholas Moreland.  Police filed for charges against Moreland at the District Court of Allegany County and a warrant was issued.   Moreland was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  He was seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.

CHARGES:  Malicious Destruction of Property $1,000 +

 

On Saturday, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Keshawn Dada.  The warrant was issued as the result of Dada failing to appear in court on October 18, 2022.  Dada was originally charged with Malicious Destruction of Property $1,000+ and Mal. Dest. Missiles at Vehicle.  Police also served an outstanding arrest warrant on Dada that was issued in connection with a fraud investigation that began on April 23, 2022.  Through investigation, Dada was identified as a suspect in cashing fraudulent checks.  Charges were filed against Dada at the District Court of Allegany County.  Dada was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  He was seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

 

ARRESTED:  Keshawn Ayodele Dada        AGE:  20         Cumberland, MD

CHARGES:  Obtain Goods/Money-Forgery (x2), Att-Obtain Goods/Money-Forgery, Issue Counterfeit Order (x2), Att-Issue, Forgery-Order for Money, Goods (x5)

 

At approximately 12:02 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 900 block of Oldtown Rd, in reference to a wanted subject, Tyele Powell, walking in the area.  Powell had two active extraditable arrest warrants through Monongalia County, WV.  Officers located Powell and informed him that he had active warrants and was under arrest.  Powell immediately fled on foot from officers.  Officers pursued Powell and were able to catch up to him.  He was placed in custody and transported to Central Booking.  Powell was served with two fugitive warrants and additional charges were filed against Powell.  The warrants were lodged as detainers.  He was seen by a District Court Commissioner for his initial hearing.  Powell was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $2,000 bond for the on-view charges.
