While the Maryland State Board of Elections currently shows 13 candidates actually filed for the seat being vacated by Congressman David Trone, several more have declared their interest as well, including Neil Parrot and Delegate Jason Buckel – both are exploring the possibility of running but have not formally announced candidacy or filed for the race.  Trone, who is not showing as having filed with the Maryland Board of Elections, has announced his run for the US Senate seat currently held by Ben Cardin who is retiring at the end of his term – another race that is quickly filling with candidates.  The District 6 Congressional seat covers Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick and part of Montgomery counties.  The filing deadline is not until February of 2024.
