November 21st, 2022 by WCBC Radio

On Thursday November 17, 2022, Allegany County Public Schools student, Zoie Jedlowski, was recognized by Lieutenant Governor Boyd K. Rutherford and Maryland Labor Secretary Tiffany P. Robinson for her outstanding contributions to the youth apprenticeship program in Maryland. Zoie was one of only three recipients in the Youth Apprenticeship category in Maryland.

As an ACPS student in the culinary arts program at the Career Center, Zoie is a registered youth apprentice at Rocky Gap Casino and Resort. She began the program in the spring of her junior year and continues to flourish at the resort. Zoie's participation in the Youth Apprenticeship Program will enable her to earn four additional high school credits as well as paid, work-based learning experiences. Zoie plans to continue her culinary education at Allegany College of Maryland.

ACPS appreciates the partnership with Rocky Gap Casino and Resort as a registered employer partner. Anyone interested in learning more about how to become an employer partner, or students interested in a Youth Apprenticeship position with ACPS's various employer partners, should contact Breann D'Atri, Coordinator of Apprenticeship and Workforce Development, at 301-729-6486 or breann.datri@acpsmd.org
