While county secessions may be currently off the table, the number of residents leaving Maryland for other states continues to increase statewide. Census Bureau numbers show the state’s overall population continues to decline with people leaving areas including Baltimore City and County, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Frederick County has actually seen a jump in population along with Anne Arundel. For 2022, the Census Bureau recorded a drop of almost 10,000 in Maryland state population.
