Like a champion, like a legend, and a very likeable man, Fort Hill/University of Maryland great, served as the Chair of the Greenway Avenue Stadium Committee Improvement Fund, with great energy and much love for his hometown of Cumberland.
Ed Mullaney Committee Member took this photo of Mark Manges and another Fort Hill/Ohio State legend, Greg Hare, at a Greenway meeting in September of 2021. The old adage of a picture is worth a thousand words is self-explanatory as Mark spreads his arms in a gesture of “let’s get it done, let’s get Greenway finished and well known as the best stadium in the state of Maryland”.
Just two days ago, there was an emptiness at the Greenway Stadium committee meeting as the Chairman’s seat was empty! All members present certainly felt the void of his leadership in the room. Then two days later, we hear of the passing of this man who added so much vigor and life to this community. Needless to say, we were all shocked and saddened by this devastating news.
Gone but not forgotten, let’s all pull together and finish Mark’s work and fulfill the dream that will touch generations to come by completing this herculean effort of the renovation of Greenway Avenue Stadium.
