The West Virginia state legislature concluded its October interim meetings this week.  The Joint Committee on Finance noted that revenues are 43 million dollars above estimates.  Charlie Burd, president of the Gas and Oil Association of West Virginia, reported that the state is now the fifth largest natural gas producer in the country.  West Virginia’s Rainy Day Fund is in a strong position and lawmakers noted that the state is thriving after the largest tax cut in state history in 2023.
