City man arrested on drug charges

On Friday the Cumberland City Police Department were dispatched to the 100 block of Bedford Street for a disturbance. Upon arrival officers located a vehicle disabled in the roadway and contacted Christopher Lynn Runyon. Mr. Runyon advised the vehicle became disabled and he was upset. While officers were on scene they observed two different license plates displayed on the vehicle. Upon further investigation one of the plates was previously reported stolen. Mr. Runyon was placed under arrest and during a search incident to arrest a large quantity of suspected fentanyl was located. Mr. Runyon was taken before a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

Arrested – Christopher Lynn Runyon (38) Cumberland, MD
Charges – CDS Possession of Fentanyl in a Large Amount, CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute, CDS Possession not Marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, and Theft less than $100.00.

On Thursday, December 20th, 2018, At approximately 245pm, A Cumberland City Police Officer responded to Interstate 68 W/B for the report of a disabled vehicle. Once on scene, the Officer attempted to contact the driver of the vehicle who was found to be slumped over behind the wheel of the vehicle. The officer was able to obtain the attention of the driver and identified him as Lyle Brandon Butts of Cumberland, MD. During the course of the incident, a police K-9 was called upon to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle which indicated the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, an amount of suspected heroin was located and seized. Butts was placed under arrest and transported to the station for processing. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance where he was released on his own personal recognizance.

Arrested: Lyle Brandon Butts   Age:  30

Charges: CDS Possession not Marijuana (Heroin)
