City Man Charged with Public Intoxication, Making False Statements

On Thursday, August 5th, 2021 the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Robert Christopher Cain charging him with littering and identity fraud to avoid prosecution.  The summons was issued by District Court in reference to an incident that occurred on August 4th, 2021 in the area of Canal Street when an officer issued him a citation for public consumption of alcohol and later discovered that Cain had given him a fictious name.  At the time of service, Cain was again found to be in possession of an alcoholic beverage in public and was issued another citation.  He received copies of the charging documents and was released pending trial at District Court.
