City Man Facing Drug Charges

At approx. 1234hrs, officers were dispatched to Columbia Street in reference to a report of robbery.  Officers made contact with the alleged victim. He stated that he had been assaulted and robbed.  The victim reported that several items had been taken during the robbery that occurred sometime last night.  The officer asked the victim if he would mind going with him to his credit union so they could obtain additional needed information about the stolen bank card.  The victim agreed to ride with officer to the credit union.  The officer completed a check for weapons on the victim prior to providing the escort and discovered that the victim had a hypodermic needle in his pocket which had been used to inject a controlled substance.

The officer and the victim arrived completing a check of the transactions on the card.  One transaction was recorded in the city last evening after the reported robbery.  The victim advised the officer that he never used the card last evening.  The officer asked the staff at the credit union to pull up the camera footage for that transaction.  The officer discovered that the transaction that was reported after the robbery and reported as fraudulent was completed by the victim.

 

At that point John Michael Pinson was taken into custody and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.  Pinson was later taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released pending trial in District Court.

On Friday at 7:35 pm, a Cumberland City Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an observed moving violation on Bedford Street.  The officer made contact with the driver who was identified as Logan Dodson, age 22 of Cumberland.  A probable cause search of the vehicle was made as a result of a strong odor of marihuana emanating from the vehicle.  Electronic hand scales, marihuana paraphernalia and a large quantity of Marihuana packaged in different increments along with large amount of currency was recovered.  The found marihuana was valued at $1,500.00 dollars.  Dodson was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department where he was processed and served.  He was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office for a bond hearing and held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center. Logan Dodson, age 22. Cumberland, Maryland. CHARGES:  Possession of Marihuana, Possession with intent to distribute marihuana, Possession of marihuana paraphernalia.
