 The City of Cumberland Public Works Department is advising residents that due to a regional road salt supplier issue affecting salt deliveries and critical supply levels impacting multiple agencies in our area, salting operations during the upcoming ice storm will be limited to major roadways and hospital routes.

The city remains committed to public safety and is prioritizing essential transportation routes to ensure accessibility for emergency responders and medical facilities. Secondary roads and residential streets may not be treated.

Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution when traveling and to avoid unnecessary trips during the storm. Should a resident experience a life-threatening emergency, they should call 911 immediately, and City crews will respond along with emergency services as needed.

The City of Cumberland appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation as we work through these temporary supply challenges. Updates will be provided as conditions develop.
