At approximately 10:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to a Columbia Avenue residence for a domestic assault. Officers arrived and located the victim inside the residence. An additional officer who was responding located the suspect walking on Valley Street. Officers spoke with all subjects involved as well as another subject who witnessed the reported assault. The female victim had visible signs of injury to her person. The suspect William Harry Thayer Jr. was taken in custody without incident. He was transported to Police Headquarters for processing and later transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await a hearing.

On January 10th, 2018, Cumberland City Police responded to a residence on Bedford St for reported assault. Once on scene, officers contacted the victim of the reported assault. The victim told officer she had been arguing with Dylan Michael Werner. According to the victim, during the argument, Werner grabbed her and pushed her to the ground multiple times. Due to the victim’s statements and the visible signs of injuries, Werner was placed under arrest and transported to the station. Werner was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance where he was released on his personal recognizance pending trial in District Court.
