Effective July 6, all Allegany County Health Department COVID-19 vaccinations will be given on Wednesdays at the health department on Willowbrook Road in Cumberland.  Vaccinations for those age 12 and older will be given from 9 a.m. to noon in the ground floor Community Room.  Vaccinations for children ages 5 to 11 will be given on the first floor from 3 to 4:30 p.m.  Pre-registration is preferred, and appointments can be scheduled through the ACHD web site at health.maryland.gov/allegany.

“The health department would like to thank Allegany County Government and Allegany County Fairgrounds director Kevin Kammauff for allowing us to utilize the fairgrounds facilities for COVID vaccination and testing clinics.  As the demand for vaccinations has lessened, and with more events returning to the fairgrounds, vaccinations are being moved back to the health department,” said ACHD Public Information Coordinator Brenda Caldwell.

While there will no longer be COVID vaccination clinics at the Allegany County Fairgrounds, free drive-thru testing continues at that location on Mondays from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  However, depending on other activities taking place at the fairgrounds, testing may be held on a different part of the property, so please follow all directional signage to reach the testing site. 

Testing will be offered at the fairgrounds on the Fourth of July holiday, although the main offices of the health department are closed that day.  Testing, vaccinations, and treatment for COVID-19 are also widely available through primary care providers, pharmacies, and other healthcare facilities.
