CPD Has Busy Sunday

On January 15, 2017 at approximately 4:25 PM Cumberland Police Officers responded to a Gay Street residence for the report of a domestic assault.    Upon their arrival they spoke to the victim.  He stated he and his wife had been arguing over their child.  The victim stated he was pushed and choked by his with, Katie Schrader.  The victim displayed injuries consistent with the account given of the incident.  At this time Katie Schrader was then placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  She was processed and then transported to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner where she was released on her personal recognizance.

Assault: Second Degree

 

Trespassing Arrest

On January 15, 2017 at approximately 8:15 PM Cumberland Police Officers responded to the area of Fourth Street for the report of a suspicious subject walking around a business.  Officers arrived and the subject entered a vehicle and fled the scene at a high rate of speed.  Officers activated their emergency lights and the suspect continued to drive away, failing to stop at two stop signs in nearby intersections.  The suspect then stopped his vehicle on Wempe Drive, exited his vehicle and entered a residence.  The suspect was identified as Robbie Wayne Morgan, and he was inside of his residence.  Morgan was advised to exit the residence and after several minutes he exited.  He refused to comply with Officers request to get on the ground.  Morgan was placed on the ground and refused to give his hands to be handcuffed.  He was able to be handcuffed and was then transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  He was processed and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office where he was released on $3,000 unsecured bond.

 

Arrested:

Charges:

Trespassing, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing and Eluding on foot and several traffic citations.

 

Burglary Arrest

On January 15, 2017 at approximately 5:15 PM Cumberland Police Officers responded to the area of Baltimore Avenue for a possible Breaking and Entering.  Upon their arrival they spoke to witnesses who stated they heard a loud banging coming from the basement of the residence.  The witness went downstairs and observed a female suspect, Shannon Grapes, standing inside the residence.  The basement door had been kicked in and the witness stated there was no other way for Grapes to have entered the residence than through the broken door.  The witness stated several items were missing from the residence.  Officers then the contacted neighbors who also heard the loud noises and during the investigation some of the missing property was recovered nearby.  Officers located Grapes a short distance away and spoke to her about the incident.  Due to the evidence at the scene and witness statements Officers placed Shannon Grapes under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department where she was processed.  She was then taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office where she was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.

Charges:

First Degree Burglary, Fourth Degree Burglary of a Dwelling, Fourth Degree Burglary Theft and Theft less than $1,000.

 

Assault on Police Arrest

On January 16, 2017 at approximately 3:35 AM Officers responded to a check on well being at a Mechanic Street apartment.  Officers arrived and spoke to the subject, Ronald Diggs.  Diggs stated he wanted to go to the hospital but would not say why he was making the request.  Diggs would not answer any questions and appeared to be agitated.  Diggs then walked towards an officer and punched the officer on the face.  The officer was able to deflect the punch and was only grazed.  The officer suffered no injuries as a result of the assault.  Diggs was placed under arrest and was transported to the Cumberland Police Department.  He was processed and is currently awaiting a bond hearing.

On Sunday, March 13, 2016 at approximately 12:48 PM Cumberland Police responded to a Queen City Drive business for a report of a subject causing a disturbance.  Upon their arrival Officers spoke to the complainant who stated a white male, later identified as Daniel Mills Jr., was standing in the drive-thru of the business, preventing customers from ordering.  Mills Jr. was still in the area causing a disturbance.  Mills Jr. was then placed under arrest.  During a search of his person incident to arrest CDS paraphernalia was located.  Mills Jr. was transported to the Cumberland Police Department where he was processed and taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s Office.  Mills Jr. was then transported to the Allegany County Detention Center and was held on $3,000 bond.

 

Arrested:

Daniel A. Mills Jr., age: 64, Cumberland, MD

Charges: Disorderly Conduct, Fail to obey a lawful order, Disturbing the Peace:Loud Noise and Disturbing the Peace Hindering Passage.

 

Warrant/Violate Protective Order Arrest

On Sunday, March 13, 2016 at approximately 3:54 pm, Officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of the 300 block of Bond Street for a report of a disturbance.  Upon the Officers arrival they contacted the complainant who stated the subject causing the disturbance had left the scene.  Officers contacted Larry Rodeheaver who was sitting inside the residence.  The complainant stated there was a protective order in place stating that Rodeheaver could not be inside to the residence or have any contact with her.  Officers then confirmed the protective order and also learned there was an active warrant for the arrest of Rodeheaver for violating a different protective order. Rodeheaver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Police Department.  He was processed and taken before the Allegany County District Court Commissioner.  Rodeheaver was then transported to the Allegany County Detention Center and was held on $1,000 bond.

Charges: Violate ExParte/Protective Order (2 counts)
