Cumberland Man Arrested On Burglary Charges

On Thursday, September 20th, 2018 the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 300 blk. of Columbia Street for an open door to a vacant residence. When officers arrived, they entered the residence and located a male identified as Daniel Monrose Jr, sleeping inside. The property manager was contacted by police and confirmed that Monrose did not have permission to be inside the residence. He was arrested and charged with 4th degree burglary. Monrose was taken before the District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center held on a $7,500 bond.

On March 13, 2018, the Cumberland Police Department received a complaint that homeless subjects were sleeping inside of a vacant property on Maryland Avenue.  The owner of the residence explained to officers that no one has been given permission to be on the property or inside the residence.  Officers checked the residence and were not able to locate anyone inside.  On March 18, 2018 at approximately 12:10 PM, police checked the residence and located the suspect, James Gunn, inside the residence.  Gunn was placed under arrest and transported to the police station.  Gunn was taken before the District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.  He was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.
