On October 30th, 2022, The Cumberland City Police responded to the 200 block of Park St for the report of a disturbance involving a firearm. Upon arrival on scene, officers contacted witnesses and victims of the incident. They advised they were walking in the area when they got into a verbal altercation with a male and female subject. They stated that during the argument, the male suspect displayed a handgun and pointed it at them. The male and female then left the area on foot. Officers searched the area and located the two subjects walking nearby. When contacted, the male subject was found to be in possession of an airsoft style pistol. As a result of the investigation, Levi Neal Jones, 24, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest for multiple charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
Also at this time, Jones, and the female, Ashley Kay Shrout, 36, were also found to active warrants issued for their arrest. The warrants stemmed from an incident that occurred on October 16th at a residence in the 12000 block of McMullen Hwy. During that incident, it is alleged that both Jones and Shrout broke into the home and stole numerous items from the home owner.
Both Jones and Shrout were taken before the District Court Commissioner for their Initial Appearances where they were both remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. Jones is currently being held without bond. Shrout was held on a $10,000 bond.
