Cumberland Woman Charged with Attempted Murder

On 2/25/2021 at approximately 1:30 AM the Cumberland City Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Ridgewood Avenue for a reported gunshot. Officers were in the area and then received a disturbance call nearby at a residence in the 800 block of Cecil Street. Officers made contact with Shana Marie Stansberry. Ms. Stansberry advised she was assaulted and the suspect had left the area. Officers searched the area and located the alleged suspect. Officers immediately identified several injuries to this subject and began to investigate further. Officers learned that this subject had been at the residence in the 800 block of Cecil Street when Ms. Stansberry pointed a handgun at them. A struggle occurred and the victim was able to get away from Ms. Stansberry. As the victim left, Ms. Stansberry fired one shot in their direction. Officers returned to Ms. Stansberry’s residence and located a spent shell casing in the area where the victim advised Ms. Stansberry was shooting from. Officers were able to locate the handgun used and placed Ms. Stansberry under arrest without issue. Ms. Stansberry was awaiting her initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner at the time of this writing. The victim did not require medical attention for their injuries.

Charges – Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and various firearm charges
