Cumberland Woman Charged with Theft, Drug Possession

On 1/19/2021 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a Queen City Drive business for a reported shoplifting complaint. Upon officers arrival they spoke with employees who advised that Altheatha Ameko Harrington attempted to leave the store without paying. Officers were able to locate Harrington and place her under arrest. Officers observed Harrington to be in possession of a prescription bottle with the label altered. Upon further investigation officers located a large quantity of a controlled dangerous substance as well as a large amount of currency indicating the sale and distribution of controlled dangerous substances. Harrington was placed under arrest and taken before a District Court Commissioner where she was held without bond.

Charges: Theft Less than $100, Controlled Dangerous Substance Large Amount, Three Counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance With Intent to Distribute, Three Counts of Possession Not Marijuana, Two Counts of Possession of Paraphernalia.
