Fire and police crews are working in the area of Cresap Street in Cumberland today. Overnight, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a report of a deceased man who was found inside of a residence in this area. The man appeared to have died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected. The building he was found inside was found to be unstable and too dangerous for emergency personnel to continue operating in.
Today, the Cumberland Fire Department, assisted by the Allegany County Collapse Team will be working to stabilize the structure to facilitate the removal of the deceased. Cresap Street is expected to be closed for most of the day. Please avoid the area.
